COMMUNITY GRANTS

Our grants prioritize funding capital-based projects that create lasting impact for organizations who serve Edmonton.

From equipment upgrades to infrastructure improvements, our grants are designed to strengthen the work of local non-profits, charities, and community groups.

We have supported some of our city’s greatest needs—funding everything from seed programs to large-scale projects. Past recipients include Operation Friendship Seniors Society, Boys and Girls Club, WIN House, Canadian Blood Services, Glenrose Rehabilitation Centre, and the Alberta Asthma Centre. We’re always looking for new and impactful initiatives to support.

About the Grants

These grants were created by the Kinsmen Club of Edmonton to make a lasting, sustainable investment in organizations that address the greatest needs in Edmonton and the surrounding area. These grants focus on supporting organizations with new or ongoing capital projects or initiatives, helping them develop or acquire assets that will provide meaningful and lasting value over the long term.

Value

Multiple grants are typically offered each year. The total amount of funding available varies annually based on the Club’s approved budget. Individual grant amounts are determined on an ad hoc basis, taking into account the applicant’s proposal and the final decision of the Club’s members.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant organizations must meet all of the following eligibility criteria.

Submit a proposal for a capital-based project or initiative.
A business plan format is recommended to clearly outline the project’s objectives, anticipated impact, cost estimates, and the rationale for the requested grant amount. Eligible projects may include, but are not limited to:

  • Constructing or installing new infrastructure
  • Refurbishing or upgrading existing facilities
  • Purchasing or repairing equipment, appliances, or electronics that support the organization’s operations or programming

Be willing, if successful, to complete an Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) Gaming Proceeds Recipient Agreement.
Organizations may be either AGLC-licensed or non-AGLC-licensed when entering into this agreement.

How to Apply

Organizations can submit their application by completing the online form. Applications are accepted from September 1 to March 15 each year. Depending on the number of applications received during the intake period, eligible applicants may be invited to present their projects in person to the Club membership in late fall or early spring.

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated based on the information provided in the completed submission. The Kinsmen Club of Edmonton will prioritize capital-based projects or initiatives that address the community’s greatest needs.

Eligible applicants may be invited to present their projects in person to the Club’s membership, providing an opportunity to highlight their organization’s work and the impact the requested funding would have on the community. Presentations typically take place in late fall and/or early spring.

Following these presentations, the Club’s membership will review and deliberate on all applications received during the intake year. Funding decisions are made between April and June, and successful applicants will be officially notified by email once the selection process is complete.
